We will be there for advice, training, and mentoring.  Scott and I have over 45 years of experience.  We don’t know all the answers, but we can help you avoid a lot of mistakes.

The whole virtual thing

 

While the downward pressures on commissions and market fluctuations have left the bricks and mortar brokers scrambling for ways to maintain any kind of bottom line, they are finding themselves forced into that corner of raising costs to the agents or cutting services or a combination thereof.    Going virtual helps relieve those pressures. At SMA we still maintain human support staff, considered by some to be the most critical element of any real estate brokerage.  A virtual model if done correctly still maintains the human components of administrative staff, easy broker access, associate brokers, and office manager, while holding and actually reducing the costs to agents.

Our Structure

 

Our  organizational structure is simple with the buck stopping with the guy whos name is on the sign.  You don’t have to go far to get an answer to your question.

Scott and Sam Mikel are co-owners of Scott Mikel & Associates Inc. 

Scott is the Designated Broker whose focus is on legal issues and technical training.

Sam Mikel is an Associate Broker who is a master at negotiation and helps out with training

Carrie Weaks is the Office Manager and soon to be an Associate Broker.  Carrie does everything from answer the phone to write paychecks, and since she is a licensed agent she can Legally support your efforts when needed.

The backbone of SMA virtual is our Agent Dashboard smavirtual.net.  This is a very dynamic website that provides you with all of the tools that you will need to become an effective virtual agent, including our design center and our transaction platform.  You can pick up your email here as well as check all of the latest real estate news national, state and local.  The site is constantly being improved and updated.  All members of the group contrubute to various parts of the site.

Unlike others whose emphasis is on recruiting, ours emphasis is on customer service.  We don’t have to pay our agents to say nice stuff about where they work.  Our business is founded on integrity and ethical behavior, not on how much money we can make in our pyramid.  If you really want to know what it’s like to work here ask one our agents.  They’ll tell you without getting paid.  Our commission structure is fair and our agents are chosen first for their integrity and reputation.

 The Environment

Whether or not you buy into the whole global warming thing or not, you must admit that there is a lot of waste in this business.  We sacrifice entire forests to make copies of incomplete documents for everybody in the transaction.  Then we make more each time we get a new signature.  With the proper tools most of this redundancy can be eliminated.  Recent changes in licensing law have made electronic storage more adaptable. 

How much gas do you currently use to drive into the office just to sit in a bricks and mortar cube to do the same paperwork you could be doing in the comfort of your own home? 

The current industry standard includes an office that while largely empty these days is still requiring the same heat and energy and creating the same carbon footprint of the building of a decade ago when it was full of agents hand writing earnest money contracts.    

 Time

Each of us are given the same number of hours in a day.  How many of those hours do you put to good use?  By eliminating the office hang out, interruptions to your work environment are put on your schedule and not on someone elses.  Commute time is drastically thirty seconds rather than thirty minutes.  By adopting virtual tools, ones that make sense that is, new possibilities open that have never before been available.  How about having access to an entire set of transaction documents from your smart phone? Or for those of you workaholics an entire transaction can be managed from poolside in Hawaii! 

The possibilities are endless, but you need a company with a spirit of innovation and willingness to examine “the way it’s always been done” with a critical eye toward how we can improve.  Think of the time you spend on the road to get to appointments that could (if you had the right tools) be accomplished electronically.

To say it in more detail…hmmm…You take a husband and wife (that would be Scott & Sam) their love for each other, their passion for helping people achieve their goals and dreams and a small, but mighty real estate company called Scott Mikel & Associates, Inc.

 

 

 

 

They have created such a desirable environment, for both customers and their peeps, that would be us, the agents.  They take time to recognize and celebrate us as individuals, as an example…our weekly, personalized one-on-one’s with the broker, yet promoting a beautiful and encouraging family atmosphere.  But, don’t get me wrong we definitely know how to joke, play and have fun around here! (You should’ve seen us at our office Christmas party!  Marshmallows a flying!!)

   

 

Of course, our broker is concerned with production, duh…what broker isn’t???!!  But he also truly cares about us, intellectually, spiritually etc.   I am always amazed at the amount of knowledge that both Scott and Sam have acquired and their willingness to share. 

 

 

 

 

My momma raised me to mean what you say and say what you mean, in other words, have and display integrity.  I am personally impressed by the level of integrity displayed by everyone here.  My momma is proud!

I have been an agent at Scott Mikel and Associates since the day the doors opened.  I am incredibly grateful to Scott and Sam Mikel for the quality and standards they have set at this company.   

Scott has always had a REAL open door policy.  Not one of those, when it’s convenient I will come find you.  He is available 24/7 and when you need help, he WILL be there.     

Our training standards are above any other I have seen.  I used to work for a title company before I came to be an agent and I worked with REALTORS everyday.  I have spent time in almost every Real Estate office in Clark County and when I say not one can compare to what I receive on a daily basis, I mean it.  Knowledge, experience, mentoring and guidance are just a few of the reasons I chose to work here and will remain here.  

This place is like family and I really enjoy working in an environment where you can trust the people you work with. It truly is invaluable.  We have a great time together in work and out.

Why I chose Scott Mikel & Associates

Honestly there was never another choice I would even consider – and here’s why.

When I decided to get licensed, after nearly 15 years of training and supporting
Realtors on the perifery of the “business” , there
was only one person (that “one” is really two, Scott AND Sam) that
I would trust to teach me the right way to do this business. Having known
them both professionally for many years, I knew their level of industry knowledge,
integrity and professionalism. While Sam has had a top level career as a
producing Realtor, Scott has made his reputation donating his time and energy to making the industry a
better place for all Realtors, whether it’s helping steer the MLS for
all our benefit, to working diligently with CCAR in too many capacities to list, he and Sam are
on the pulse of the industry more than anyone else I know.

Throw in a great technology infrastructure, a very cool office with such a great vibe, endless
top level support and coaching, there is no where else I would rather be. I am far from being
a seasoned agent, and I really expected to struggle initially, especially with the market
transitioning, but for some odd reason I have found myself very busy with both buyers and
sellers since I joined SMA in July of this year….luck? I don’t think so, I’ve hitched my
